BILOXI, MS - Twelve different players notched at least one point, and Ryan Menei, Mathieu Melanson, and Ryan Cruthers each scored two goals as the Mississippi Sea Wolves defeated the Gwinnett Gladiators 9-3 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Tuesday evening.

The Sea Wolves got just their second shorthand goal of the season to open the game when Jeremy Hall broke down the ice two-on-one and fed a pass over to Jeff Kyrzakos who hammered it home for his ninth goal of the year at 2:47. Just over a minute later, Ryan Cruthers drove to the right post and tapped in a centering pass from Alex Parent for his 24th goal of the season and first of the night. Mike Berry gave the Sea Wolves a 3-0 lead when his wrist shot from the high slot eluded Gladiators goaltender Joe Fallon at 14:33 of the first. Gwinnett got on the board when Travis Fuller potted his seventh of the season at 15:32.

Mississippi came out of the chute in the second period with guns blazing, taking a 4-1 lead when Ryan Menei broke down the left wing and beat Fallon over the glove to chase the Gwinnett starter from the net in favor of Josh Johnson at 3:52. Mathieu Melanson's first goal of the night staked the Sea Wolves to a 5-1 lead when he scored on a breakaway at 4:47. Gwinnett would claw within two in the second period, getting markers from Pat Bateman at 5:38 and Myles Stoesz at 10:16.

Ryan Cruthers notched his second of the game, redirecting a shot from Mathieu Melanson at 4:33 of the third. Melanson would add his second of the game to make it 7-3 in favor of Mississippi at 6:19 of the third period. Ryan Menei potted his ninth of the year and second of the night at 8:56 of the third, and Chris Zarb closed out the scoring with his first goal of the season on the power play at 19:44 of the third.

The nine goals scored by Mississippi were the most since December 4, 2004 when the Sea Wolves defeated Texas on home ice by the score of 9-2, and the fourth time in team history that the Sea Wolves have potted nine goals.

Ryan Munce made 22 saves to earn the win and the Sea Wolves were 2-for-6 on the power play.

Thursday, February 11 vs. Charlotte, 4-5 OTL

BILOXI, MS - In a game defined by numerous power plays, the Mississippi Sea Wolves dramatic third period, three-goal comeback effort was foiled 29 seconds into overtime by Charlotte's Ethan Graham as the Checkers defeated the Sea Wolves 5-4 in overtime at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Thursday.

David Rutherford broke the scorelessness that punctuated the early portion of the game when his wrist shot found the top corner of the net with Charlotte on the power play at 18:50 of the first period.

The Checkers continued their power-play onslaught when Mike Bayrack blasted a one-timer over the glove of Sea Wolves goaltender Ryan Munce with Charlotte on a two-man advantage at 2:45 of the second period. Charlotte grabbed a 3-0 lead when Julien Brouillette tapped home the rebound of a shot from Jeff Miles at 8:53 of the second.

Mississippi got on the board midway through the second period, scoring its' second shorthand goal in as many games when Jason Tejchma stole the puck from Charlotte defenseman Chris Murray and broke down the ice to backhand the disk over Charlotte netminder Jeff Jakaitis.

The Checkers grabbed a 4-1 lead on a power-play goal from Brad Ralph at 4:39 of the third. The Sea Wolves began mounting a comeback, pulling within two when Mathieu Melanson's centering pass hit the handle of Ryan Cruthers' stick and beat Jakaitis at 10:57. Less than a minute and a half later, Chris Zarb took a pass from Jeremy Hall and fired it past Jakaitis for his second of the season at 12:06. Jeff Kyrzakos tied the game for Mississippi with a power-play goal, is 10th of the season, with the Sea Wolves on a two-man advantage and Ryan Munce pulled for an extra attacker at 18:37 of the third, forcing the game to an extra session.

Just 29 seconds into overtime, Charlotte's Ethan Graham got his stick on a bouncing puck in the slot and shot it over Munce's glove to give Charlotte the 5-4 win.

Munce made 29 saves to earn an OT, and the Sea Wolves power-play was 1-for-6.

Friday, February 13 vs. Charlotte, 5-4 SOW

BILOXI, MS - For the second straight night, the Mississippi Sea Wolves came from behind in the third period to tie the game at four to force overtime, with Mississippi coming out on the good end of the shootout decision, as Alex Parent potted the shootout winner in the sixth round as the Sea Wolves won 5-4 on home ice on Friday night.

For the third game in a row, Mississippi potted a shorthand goal, this time taking a 1-0 lead on Jeremy Hall's fifth goal of the season when he stole the puck away just inside the blueline and tucked it behind Checkers goalie Maxime Daigneault at 9:09 of the first period.

Shortly thereafter, it appeared as though Jason Tejchma had potted a power-play goal to give the Sea Wolves a 2-0 lead, but referee Steve Patafie ruled that Tejchma, who was in the process of stopping, used a kicking motion to send the puck in the net and waved the goal off. Mike Bayrack evened the game at one-apiece when he broke down the ice two-on-one, taking a pass from Michel Leveille and firing it over Sea Wolves goalie Ryan Munce's catching glove at 18:01 of the first. With 10 seconds remaining, Charlotte's Brad Ralph hammered a loose puck past Munce for a power play goal and a 2-1 Charlotte lead.

The Sea Wolves drew even at two just 70 seconds into the second period when Alex Parent banged home the rebound of Mathieu Melanson's shot. Melanson's 19th goal of the season regained the lead for Mississippi when he grabbed a pass from Jeff Kyrzakos and put it past Daigneault at 9:24 of the second. Charlotte's Julien Brouillette grabbed a pass in the left circle from Bayrack and fired it past Munce for his ninth of the season at 11:06. At 14:17, Jeff Miles grabbed a loose puck just inside the blueline and fired it through Munce's pads to give Charlotte a 4-3 lead heading into the locker room after two periods.

Mike Berry's 10th goal of the season tied the game at four when he drove to the net and slammed the puck through Daigneault's pads at 5:26 of the third period. Despite two power plays late in the third period, Mississippi was unable to pull ahead in the waning minutes of the third period, and the game went to overtime, the fifth game between the Checkers and the Sea Wolves to go to an extra session this season.

After a scoreless overtime, the Sea Wolves iced the victory with Alex Parent's goal in the sixth round of the shootout.

Ryan Munce made 27 saves to earn the win, and the Sea Wolves were 0-for-7 on the power play.

Sunday, February 15 @ South Carolina, 2-3 SOL

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - The Mississippi Sea Wolves battled back from a 2-0 deficit to force overtime but ultimately fell in overtime as Michael Dubuc's power-play goal at 3:59 of overtime gave the South Carolina Stingrays a 3-2 win at the North Charleston Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.

South Carolina grabbed a 1-0 lead, capitalizing on a defensive miscue at the Sea Wolves blueline when Travis Morin broke down the right wing two-on-one with Keith Johnson, fed a pass over to Johnson who popped it past Mississippi netminder Ryan Munce for a shorthand goal at 11:25 of the first. The Stingrays would capitalize on special teams again in the final minute of the first, when Josh Godfrey potted his second goal of the season on the power play, blasting a slapshot from the point through a screen and past Munce for a 2-0 lead.
