
Sea Wolves Announce Changes To 2008-09 Season Schedule

BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves on Thursday announced several changes to the schedule of games for the 2008-09 ECHL Regular Season.
Mississippi will begin it's 11th season on the ice and 13th season as a member of the ECHL on October 17 at Augusta. The season-opening road trip will continue on to Gwinnett, where the Sea Wolves will face the Gladiators on October 18.
The Sea Wolves then return for a nine-game home stand, their longest of the season, starting with a three-games-in-three-nights series against the Charlotte Checkers on October 24, 25, and 26.
Wheeling will visit the Mississippi Gulf Coast for the first time when the Sea Wolves host the Nailers on November 7, 8 and 9. The 2008 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones will also make their first-ever visit on February 6 and 8. Visits to Johnstown on January 28 and 30 and Wheeling on January 31 mark the Sea Wolves only trip outside of the South Division this season.
The longest string of road games in the 2008-09 season surrounds the Christmas break and extends into January, a 13-game stretch that will see the Sea Wolves visit Florida on December 19 and 20, Charlotte on December 27, South Carolina on December 28, 31, and January 4, Gwinnett on December 29, Augusta on January 2 and 3, and Florida on January 9 and 10, and a return trip to Augusta on January 16 and 17.
Breaking down the schedule by opponent, Mississippi will host Augusta on November 5, December 4, 5, 6, 13, and 14, and again on January 24 and 25, while traveling to face the Lynx on October 17, January 2, 3, 16, and 17, and February 27 and 28. The Sea Wolves open their home schedule against the Charlotte Checkers on October 24, 25, and 26, and Charlotte will return for a pair of games at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on February 13 and 14, and the Sea Wolves visit Charlotte November 14 and 22, December 27, and March 1, 27, and 28.
Florida will visit Mississippi December 16 and 17, February 18, and March 13 and 14, while the Sea Wolves will travel down to face the Everblades on January 9 and 10, March 6 and 7, and April 3 and 4. The Gwinnett Gladiators will make eight trips to the Gulf Coast, on October 31 and November 1, December 10, February 4, 10, 20, and 21, and March 3.
Mississippi will host the South Carolina Stingrays on November 27, 28, and 29 and March 10 and 11, and the Pack will travel up to face the Rays on November 21 and 23, December 28 and 31, January 4, and March 29.

Began in 1988-89 with five teams playing in four states, the Premier 'AA' Hockey League has grown into a coast-to-coast league that will have 24 teams in 16 states and British Columbia playing 864 games from Oct. 17, 2008 to Apr. 4, 2009. Nineteen of the 24 teams have played at least five years in their current city.
The third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League, the ECHL averaged 4,174 per game last season, marking the fourth year in row and the 16th time in the last 18 years that the league has averaged over 4,000 fans.
The Premier 'AA' Hockey League welcomed 3,756,191 fans, marking the fifth straight season and the 11th time in the last 12 years that it has exceeded 3.75 million fans. The 51 sold out crowds are the most in the last five seasons and mark the fourth time in the last five years that the ECHL has had at least 40 sellouts.
