Sea Dogs powers past Juniors 4 to 2

Montreal - The Montreal Juniors visited Saint John as they faced the top-ranked Sea Dogs tonight. It was the Sea Dogs who topped the Juniors by the score of 4 to 2. Saint John winger and Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Nicolas Petersen led the Sea Dogs with a goal and two assists.

Just three minutes into the first, the Sea Dogs got on the board first when Tomas Jurco tallied his thirteenth of the season on the power play. The Juniors were able to tie it when David Rose scored his first of season at 6:15 of the first from Jeremy Gouchie and Nicolas Chouinard.

Louis-Marc Aubry gave the Juniors the lead when he put the puck past Karel St-Laurent for his eighth of the season just a minute into the second from defenseman Xavier Ouellet and forward Guillaume Asselin. Goals from Penguins prospect Nicolas Petersen and Mike Thomas gave Saint John the lead before the end of the second. Michael Kirkpatrick would extend the Sea Dogs lead to two goals on the power play at 13:06 of the third. That was the last goal of the game as the Sea Dogs defeated the Juniors by the score of 4 to 2.

Montreal netminder Jean-Francois Berube made 23/27 saves in the loss. Sea Dogs goaltender Karel St-Michael stopped 23/25 shots in the winning effort. Montreal has a record of 20-19-0-3 while Saint John is now at 35-8-1-0.

The Juniors will play the Drakkar tomorrow in Baie-Comeau before they end this five-game road swing in Rimouski when they face the Oceanic on the 15th. The Juniors will make their return on Sunday, January 17th, when they host the Victoriaville Tigers at 4:05PM.
