
SD Loyal Signs Defender Jackson Kasanzu

SAN DIEGO - San Diego Loyal SC announced today it has signed defender Jackson Kasanzu, pending league and federation approval. The Tanzanian international joins the club ahead of its upcoming USL Championship regular season match against Birmingham Legion FC set to kick off tomorrow, August 13 at 5 p.m. from Protective Stadium.
"Jackson is a talented young center back with the potential to be very special," said Landon Donovan, EVP of Soccer Operations and Manager. "We are excited to have a player of his caliber join our club."
Kasanzu joins SD Loyal after most recently playing with AFC Ann Arbor of USL League Two for the 2022 season. The defender played in eight matches for AFC Ann Arbor, starting in seven, helping his team to a 4W-2L-2D record during that span. Kasanzu recorded 640 total minutes and two shot attempts for the season.
Originally from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the 19-year-old defender has signed his first professional contract with SD Loyal and will wear number 16.
