January 22, 2018 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Cape Breton Eagles News Release
The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles have named 19 year old forward Declan Smith as an alternate captain. He joins 20 year old forwards Phélix Martineau (team captain) and Jordan Ty Fournier (alternate captain) as those wearing letters on Screaming Eagle jerseys for the second half of the season. The second alternate captaincy had been left vacant with the trade of Drake Batherson to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
This is Smith's third full season with the Screaming Eagles. He was acquired in a trade with the Saint John Sea Dogs during the 2014-15 season. Thus far in 2017-18 the native of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, has compiled 25 points in 41 games with the Screaming Eagles.
Smith and his Cape Breton club are in action tonight against the Halifax Mooseheads at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax. Puck drop is 7 PM.
