
Scott Bikowski Named Southern League Hitter of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, AL âBarons outfielder Scott Bikowski has been named the Southern League Hitter of the Week for August 22-28 to mark the tenth time a Baron has been awarded a weekly honor. On the season, four different pitchers have won pitcher of the week (Royce Ring, Tetsu Yofu, Neal Cotts and Enemencio Pacheco) and five different players have won hitter of the week (Ryan Hankins, Jeremy Reed (twice), Carlos Maldonado, Gabe Alvarez and Bikowski). The next closest total for any team in the Southern League is six awards for the Jacksonville Suns.
Bikowski hit .474 (9-for-19), drove in seven runs and scored three times. The Southern League's leading hitter blasted one home run, two doubles and a triple, while walking once. For the week, the 26-ear-old had a .842 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage. The Chicago White Sox acquired Bikowski in a trade with the Anaheim Angels in 2001. The Angels originally drafted him in the 17th round of the 1999 draft out of Florida Southern College. He resides in Suffiled, CT.
