[RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-The Scorpions are excited to announce center Jamie Herrington will return to the team this season. Head coach Randy Murphy secured Herrington after spending last season in Italy.

Herrington, 30, was a mid-season pick up for New Mexico in 2006-07. In 43 games the Cornwall, Ontario native scored 25 points (12G, 13A). He shined in the playoffs scoring 10 points (3G, 7A) in 14 games.

"Jamie will bring great leadership to our forwards," said Murphy. "He will help us teach and develop the younger players we will have on our roster."

Last season Herrington played for Piemonte All-Stars HC. He led the team in scoring with 54 points (22G, 32A) in 41 games.

"I was trying to get Jamie back for the playoffs last year but timing did not work out," said Murphy. "Jamie's fiancée is from the area and both of them are excited to return to the place they will call home."

Fans in Scorps Nation will also remember Herrington for his musical styling off the ice. During post-game events the fans would often get treated to his guitar playing and singing to cap off their nights.
