October 23, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
New Mexico Scorpions News Release

[PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz.]-In the first game between two great rivals this season, Arizona came away with a 5-3 victory. Martin Gascon led the way for the Sundogs with a four-point night.

Arizona got started early on the power play. Karl Sellan's slap shot in the high slot found the back of the net at the 2:17 mark of the first period.

The Scorpions tied it up when Dylan Row threw a pass to the front of the net. Craig Macdonald handled the pass and shoveled it to the back of the net tying the game at one.

The special teams played a role in both goals of the second period. Gascon scored a shorthanded goal giving the Sundogs back the lead. On the very next shift Chris Robertson tied the game, on the power play, with his second goal of the season.

The offenses exploded in the third period for four goals in the first six minutes. Arizona started the final period on the power play and got a goal by Jon Landry at the 1:09 mark. Gascon gave the Sundogs their first two-goal lead when he took a Scorps turnover and put it into the net.

New Mexico answered at the 4:35 mark as Corey Courchene scored his first of the season on the power play. The Sundogs responded less then a minute later as Mark Kolanos ended the night's scoring.
