New Mexico Scorpions News Release
[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]- The New Mexico Scorpions, proud member of the Central Hockey League (CHL), have been assigned Scott Reid from the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL). Reid has been signed to a five-game player tryout contract and is expected to be in uniform for the Scorpions this weekend.
Reid was originally signed this past summer to a two-way contract involving Milwaukee and New Mexico . Before the season started, the 30-year-old was invited to the Nashville Predators camp in the NHL. After the pre-season he was then sent to begin the season on the Admirals roster.
Scorpions' Head Coach Ray Edwards coached Reid for two years while with San Angelo . The Grande Prairie , Alb. native won the CHL's 2003-04 Most Outstanding Goalie Award and was runner-up for the same award the following season with the Saints. "Scott is a premier goalie at this level. I had him for a couple of years in San Angelo and he was outstanding for our teams," said Edwards. "We have gotten great play from David Cacciola over the last two weeks. We feel very confident that our goaltending is as good or better as team in the league."
