Tulsa Oilers News Release
Sweet Six: The Tulsa Oilers winners of six straight games, host the Memphis RiverKings Tuesday at 7:05 p.m., host the Youngstown SteelHounds Friday at 7:35 p.m., and visit Memphis Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Saturday's game will be broadcast on KRVT AM 1270 and also available via the internet at www.tulsaoilers.com.
Streaking: The Oilers beat Odessa on Friday 7-3, and topped Wichita Saturday 6-3. The six game winning streak is their longest since an eight game winning streak from November 1 to November 19 in 2002.
Speaking Of: Streaks, center Spencer Carbery has stretched his point streak to 10 games, tying him for longest in the league this season. Carbery has five goals and nine assists for 14 points in his streak. Chris Lipsett of Amarillo and Bobby Chaumont of Laredo also have had 10 game point streaks this season.
QuikTrip Tuesday: Tuesday's game with Memphis is the next Oilers QuikTrip Tuesday. Fans can pick up vouchers good for a free ticket to Tuesday's game at area QuikTrip stores.
Holiday Happenings: Friday's game with Youngstown will definitely have a festive atmosphere, with several events geared toward helping the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army will be collecting canned food items and coats at Friday's game. Fans who bring an item to donate will be entered into a drawing for lunch with their favorite Oiler player and coach Butch Kaebel.
Friday is also the annual Oiler Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring Teddy Bears to the game and throw them on the ice after the first Oilers goal. The bears will be collected and donated to the Salvation Army for distribution. Fans can also stop by a registration table, before the game, show their bear and receive a ticket for a free drawing, also for lunch with their favorite player and Kaebel.
Turkey Shoot: Fans can also win their holiday turkey at Friday's game courtesy of Wal-Mart. The first 39 fans who spend $50 or more at the Oilers merchandise stand Friday night will go onto the ice after the game to take part in the Wal-Mart Turkey Shoot. There are 39 turkeys available so each fan who qualifies will have the chance to win a turkey.
