
Scorpions get big win over OKC in OT

SCORPIONS RECAP â
TOPEKA 5, SCORPIONS 4 â Topeka shocked the Scorpions by erasing a 4-1 deficit in the third period and posting a 5-4 win on Friday. Cosmo Dupaul scored the game-winner for the Tarantulas with 3:39 left in the third period. Chris Brannen and Chris Migliore each had a goal and two assists for the Tarantulas. Eleven players registered one point each for the Scorpions, and Konrad McKay, Shawn Legault, Jordan Bianchin and Ladislav Kouba all scored. Miguel Beaudry stopped 34 shots for the Scorpions while David St. Germain made 32 saves for Topeka.
TOPEKA 6, SCORPIONS 2 â Topeka completed the sweep of the Scorpions by scoring four power play goals in a 6-2 win here at Tingley Coliseum on Saturday. The Tarantulas also held the Scorpions to a 0-for-5 performance on the power play. Mike Oliveira led the Scorpions with a goal and an assist while Jordan Bianchin scored for the second straight game. Vin Hellemeyer had two goals and two assists on his 23rd birthday to lead Topeka, while goalie David St. Germain stopped 36 of 38 shots. Guy St. Vincent made 27 saves on 33 shots for the Scorpions.
SCORPIONS 4, OKLAHOMA CITY 3 (OT) â Randy Murphy scored at 1:47 of overtime to end the weekend on a positive note for the Scorpions with a 4-3 triumph over the Blazers last night. Mike Possin tied the game 3-3 late in the second period and added an assist. Mike Oliveira (1g-2a) and Aaron Schneekloth (3a) had three points each while Alexandre Piche scored the Scorpions' other goal. Miguel Beaudry stopped 32 shots for the Scorpions while Sean Connors made 37 saves for the Blazers.
SCORPIONS MATCH-UPS â
COLORADO â The Scorpions will look to break a five-game losing streak against the Eagles when the teams meet for back-to-back games at Tingley Coliseum on Friday and Saturday. The Eagles have already clinched a playoff spot and are closing in on the Governor's Cup regular season championship. Greg Pankewicz is second in the CHL with 80 points (32g-48a) while Riley Nelson is seventh with 67 points (30g-37a). Colorado is first in the league scoring 3.8 goals per game and allowing less than two. Goalie Tyler Weiman leads the loop with 28 wins and 1.74 GAA.
LUBBOCK â These two teams will face twice over the final three weeks of the season, starting Sunday in Lubbock. The Scorpions are 1-2-1 against the Cotton Kings this season. Lubbock is currently a point behind San Angelo and three behind Amarillo in the Southwest Division but with two games in hand on both of their rivals. Anders Strome (31g-16a) and Matt Turek (13g-34a) are tied for the team lead in scoring with 47 points. The Cotton Kings are second in the league allowing 2.49 goals per game. Goalie Lance Leslie is fourth in the CHL with a 2.26 GAA.

STINGERS â By scoring the game-winning goal last night, Randy Murphy is tied with Sylvain Naud for second on the Scorpions all-time scoring list with 241 points in less than three seasons with the team... Murphy's goal also gave his 30 markers on the season, meaning that the Scorpions have had a 30-goal scorer in eight of their nine seasons, with 2001-02 being the lone exception... Mike Oliveira has points in three straight games, with six points total during that time... Mike Possin also has points in three straight contests... With three assists last night, Aaron Schneekloth is now tied for ninth among CHL defensemen with 33 points and is fifth with 30 assists.

TICKET AND TEAM STORE INFO â Tickets for all Scorpions home games start at $11 and can be purchased at the Scorpions Team Store, 6300 San Mateo NE in the Far North Shopping Center, at the Tingley Coliseum box office beginning two hours prior to game time, or at any TicketMaster outlet. Regular non game-day hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. On Tuesday through Friday game days it is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday game days from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
