New Mexico Scorpions News Release
ALBUQUERQUE â The New Mexico Scorpions are always willing to assist the community. Today, they took that task to a different level as they assisted in the apprehension of a purse snatching suspect outside the team's offices.
Captain Daniel Tetrault and rookie Alexandre Piche, who was signed by the team earlier today, were inside the team's offices (6300 San Mateo NE in the Far North Shopping Center) when they responded to the victim's calls for help. They chased the suspect into the shopping center's back parking lot, through a fence and an arroyo (drainage area) before losing track in a neighboring apartment complex. However, the Albuquerque Police Department apprehended the suspect minutes later in the complex, and a suspected getaway driver was also apprehended elsewhere in Albuquerque.
"We are proud of our players for helping out a person in need and putting themselves in danger, however minimal it may have turned out to be," said Scorpions Senior Vice President/General Manager Geoff Kent. "This was a potentially dangerous situation and I'm delighted that everything turned out well and that our players and the victim were not seriously injured."
Tetrault was treated on scene for minor cuts to his hand. Piche was not injured.
Tickets for all Scorpions regular season home games are available at the Scorpions Team Store, located at 6300 San Mateo NE at the corner of San Mateo and Academy in the Far North Shopping Center, and any TicketMaster outlet. Single-game tickets start as low as $11.
Ten-game packages and Scorpions voucher books make great stocking stuffers this holiday season and are available starting at $110. Voucher books are available at the Scorpions office or at any of the team's remaining home games prior to Christmas. For more information, call the Scorpions office at (505) 881-PUCK (7825).
