New Mexico United News Release
(EDINBURG ,TX) An inaugural season is going to be full of firsts, and two more firsts are now cemented in New Mexico United history. The April 6 match against Rio Grande Valley ended in a 0:0 draw. It marks NM United's first clean sheet, and it's first scoreless outing.
Defense was the theme of the match. A total of three shots, two for RGV and one for United, were on target. New Mexico United's Goalkeeper, Cody Mizell seized his two opportunities to shine, and was crucial in preserving the eventual clean sheet. New Mexico United Captain, Josh Suggs made five clearances, four recoveries and three interceptions to help his defense blank the opponent.
Man of the Match
Cody Mizell was the pillar of an impressive New Mexico United defensive display. He denied the two RGV attempts that penetrated an otherwise stingy United back line and ensured that his squad came away from Edinburg with a much-deserved point.
New Mexico United's next match is an April 13 home tilt, against Real Monarchs.
