
SC United Battery Academy Has Successful Home Stand

Charleston, SC SC United Battery Academy went 2-1-1 against IMG Academy this past weekend. All four matches were played at Blackbaud Stadium with each team playing one game each day.
In Saturday's 18 match the Battery struck early in the 9th minute when Avery Ryan scored off a Rex Epp's assist and was the lone goal of the match. The 16 match saw IMG defeat the Battery 2-0 with Matthew Orr tallying both goals from distance with his left foot in the first half.
Battery Academy Executive Director, Clark Brisson said, "The 18 team has been playing better and better each week and we finally got our first victory and a much deserved one at that. I am proud of their performance and that were able to get the result. In the 16 match, IMG scored two long range goals against the run of the play and that was the difference in the game. After several near misses, we could not find the back of the net and credit IMG as they defended very well on the day."
Sunday's matches saw the 18 team get a goal late in stoppage time when Rex Epp's scored from a Caleb Moore assist to tie the game 1-1. The 16 match saw the Battery thoroughly handle IMG by a score of 4-0 with two goals scored in each half. Goal scorers for the 16 team were Conor Sloan, Marcelo Malpartida, Robbie Robinson and Nick Wright.
SC United Battery Director, Clark Brisson on Sunday's matches, "I credit the 18 team for never giving up and finally getting the reward to tie the game in stoppage time. This goes to show that you are never out of a game until the whistle blows and I am proud of the character our team showed today. The 16 match was a pleasure to watch. The boys played a great brand of ball today in possession, scoring great goals and maintaining a clean sheet for the first time this season.
