Spokane Shock News Release
Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today Antwone Savage has been assigned to their inaugural roster by the arenafootball2 League office. The Shock also placed Matt Walters, OL/DL, on long term injured reserve.
Savage, 5'11 180, spent the last two seasons in the af2 with the South Georgia Wildcats where he led the team in all-purpose yards with 1,549. Savage, an Offensive Specialist, also led the team in receptions (87), receiving yards (1,070), and touchdowns (22).
"Antwone is a special player," Head Coach Chris Siegfried said. "I coached Antwone in South Georgia and so I have seen first hand what he is capable of doing; he truly is a Gamebreaker."
Savage's name decorates the University of Oklahoma's record book where he was a member of the National Championship team in 2000. Currently, Savage ranks second all-time in receptions and finished his career as a Sooner with 157 receptions, 2,009 yards, and 13 touchdowns. In both 2001 and 2002, Savage earned all Big-12 honors as a receiver and a kick-off returner.
"I'm excited to come to Spokane - I've heard a lot of good things about it. I'm excited to show the city what I can bring to the table," Savage said.
The Spokane Shock will kick-off their inaugural season at the Spokane Arena on Thursday March 30th as they host the Stockton Lightning at 7PM at the Spokane Arena. Season tickets and group tickets are now sale now by calling 509 242 SHOCK. Single game tickets are also on sale at all Ticketswest outlets
