Philadelphia Wings News Release
The Philadelphia Wings will play all eight home games at the Wachovia Center on Saturday nights starting on Saturday, January 16 versus the Boston Blazers. This will be the first time since 2006 that the Wings have played all their home games on Saturday night. Fans can secure lower level season tickets for all eight games for only $120 by calling 215-389-WING (9464).
Before the Wings rock the Wachovia Center the team will begin its 2010 season on the road with a trip to face the Titans on Friday, January 8 in the first ever NLL game played in Orlando.
"2010 is going to be a very exciting season for the Wings and the NLL," said Wings Owner and President Russ Cline. "We have a great schedule with all home games on Saturday night, an exciting team and the greatest fans in the league. The only real problem for me with the schedule is that it starts in January and not next weekend."
The Wings will look to rebound from their 2009 season when they went 4-4 at home and 7-9 overall, missing the playoffs by a single game. Returning to the Wings this season are All-Stars Geoff Snider, Drew Westervelt, and Springfield native Kyle Sweeney; along with the top five NLL goal scorer Merrick Thomson and 2008 MVP Athan Iannucci. The returning squad will be joined by Ridley native Bill McGlone, Edmonton's top scorer from 2009 Dan Teat, as well as two time All-American and National Champion from Johns Hopkins Kevin Huntley; son of Head Coach Dave Huntley.
Home opponents include the Boston Blazers on January 16; Colorado Mammoth on January 23; Orlando Titans on February 6; Buffalo Bandits on February 13; Rochester Knighthawks on February 20; Minnesota Swarm on March 13; the Blazers will visit Philadelphia a second time on March 27; and the Wings will close their home schedule versus the Toronto Rock April 3. All home games to be played on Saturday nights with a start time of 7 p.m. at the Wachovia Center.
The Wings open their 2010 home season on Saturday, January 16 vs. the Boston Blazers at the Wachovia Center. For only $120 you are guaranteed a great lower level seat for eight exciting games of Wings lacrosse. Call 215-389-WING (9464) or visit WingsLAX.com for more information.
