Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa - Consecutive multipoint games pushed the Waterloo Black Hawks' Max Sasson back among the United States Hockey League's top scorers and led the USHL to name him its Forward of the Week for the second time this season on Wednesday.
The Black Hawks swept a home weekend versus the Sioux Falls Stampede last Friday and Saturday. In the initial 6-3 decision, Sasson capitalized on a third period breakaway and also set up an Owen Ozar goal with a solid transitional passing play. He ended the evening with a +2 plus/minus differential. The veteran forward was involved again early on Saturday, assisting on Wyatt Schingoethe's first period goal. Sasson then scored on an early third period redirection; that proved to be the game-winner in Waterloo's 4-3 victory. The Western Michigan recruit was +1 in that game.
Sasson is Waterloo's leading scorer this season and currently is tied for 18th in the league with 42 points. Besides pacing the Hawks in that category, he also tops the team in goals (18), assists (24), and game-winning goals (four). Sasson's four shorthanded goals tie for the USHL lead.
Sasson was previously recognized as the USHL Forward of the Week on December 30th.
After two seasons with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, Sasson joined the Hawks this winter. His offensive totals this season in all significant categories are USHL career personal bests.
The Black Hawks are on the road for games against the Fargo Force on Thursday and Friday this week.
