Montreal Sasquatch News Release

(Halifax, NS)-The Halifax Rainmen have gotten a wakeup call.

The Rainmen, who may have thought they were going to steamroll the Premier Basketball League after a 3-0 start, tasted defeat for the first time yesterday with a 105-103 setback at the hands of the Montreal Sasquatch at the Metro Centre.

They're still first in the Atlantic Division, but they fell behind by 15 points after three quarters yesterday and needed a frantic rally in the fourth to make it close.

"Hopefully, we can pick up on this and take it as a lesson," said Rainmen forward David Bailey. "We got to get more unity on defence and have more patience. When we get guys talking, working together, we're going to improve."

- Brian Silverhorn didn't play because of a knee injury. Bailey suffered a knee injury yesterday and will be evaluated today, while guard Jimmy Twyman hurt his hamstring.

- Big weekends for the Rainmen came from Rob Sanders and Eric Crookshank. The 6-foot-8 forwards had identical stats, with 38 points and 17 rebounds apiece.

Twyman (29 points) and small forward Cordell Jeanty (24 points) were also contributors offensively.
