Sano Takes Hill Tonight For Pioneers

RHP Shigeki Sano will take the mound tonight (Wednesday) for the Elmira Pioneers vs. the Adirondack Lumberjacks. Sano has been working out with the team for the past few weeks and was activated to the roster earlier today.

Sano went 6-6, 2.66 with the Pioneers in 2001. He recorded the 2nd best single-season ERA in the Northern League history of the Elmira Pioneers. In 125.1ip he allowed 121 hits with 22 bb's and 49 k's.

This year Sano went 0-2, 6.89 in 5 games in April with Tigres in the Mexican League. He also was in the Los Angelese Dodgers spring camp in Vero Beach, Florida in March.

The 33 year old Sano from Ehime, Japan is 5'9", 200.

Elmira hopes to end their 2-game losing streak with tonight's 7:00pm game at the Adirondack Lumberjacks. The Pioneers are 1-3 this season vs. Adirondack.

New Jersey won their 9th straight game last night and the Jackals currently hold a 3-game lead over the Pioneers in the South Division with only 14 games remaining in the first half.
