CAMDEN, NJ - The Camden Riversharks announced the purchase of catcher Erick San Pedro's contract by the Chicago White Sox today. San Pedro, the second Rivershark to be picked up this week, reports to Double-A today.

San Pedro, 24, is a former second rounder from the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals. Coming out of the University of Miami, he was lauded as one of the top catching prospects in the country. His defense has prompted two call-ups to Triple-A in the past two seasons, but injuries kept him from a stable spot at any level. He had over 100 at-bats in a season only once since being drafted-in 2006.

In 19 games and 57 ABs this season, San Pedro hit .281 with four doubles. He is on pace to break all of his personal bests in offense and continues to shine behind the plate.

"We expected a lot of our players to be signed by Big League clubs early this season," Riversharks director of baseball operations, David Keller, said. "Erick is a talented young player with a lot of upside. He worked as hard as anyone in our clubhouse, and we couldn't be happier for him."

On Tuesday, Camden announced the purchase of Chris Walker by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

The first place Riversharks return from the road Monday for a series with the Lancaster Barnstormers. Tickets are available at www.riversharks.com or by calling 1-866-SHARKS-9.
