Bridgeport Bluefish News Release

Bridgeport, CT - May 30th - Alex Prieto worked his way out of a slump in a huge way Friday night. The Bridgeport Bluefish shortstop drove in six runs on two swings of the bat (home run in second, double in seventh) to propel his team to a 14-13 victory over the Camden Riversharks. The Bluefish improve to 17-17 on the year and hand the 'Sharks their fifth consecutive loss.

The seventh inning has been huge for Bridgeport all week long. The Bluefish scored six runs on six hits, featuring Prieto's big hit and a lead-padding two-run double by Henry Mateo that proved to be huge.

It seemed like an easy wrap-up for the Bluefish bullpen but the Riversharks battled back with four runs in the eighth inning off Bridgeport reliever T.J. Tucker. Camden's Brett Bonevechio's only hit of the night forced Tommy John to call upon Eddy Ramos to shut the door on the Riversharks' rally.

The win in this wild game goes to Franklin Perez who came on in relief of Bridgeport starter Matt Pike. Perez worked 1.2 innings of one-hit ball with one strikeout. Camden reliever Buddy Hernandez is charged with the loss going one inning and allowing two runs on three hits with one walk.

Bridgeport's Brian Munhall drove in three runs on the night while Ryan Bear went three-for-five with two runs and an RBI. Camden's Nic Jackson was a home run shy of the cycle, going four-for-six with three RBIs and a run scored. Ron Davenport also posted a four-hit night for the 'Sharks with two doubles, two runs and an RBI.
