Giants Begin Four-Game Series Against Lancaster Tonight The San Jose Giants continue their homestand with the opener of a four-game series against the Lancaster JetHawks this evening at Municipal Stadium. The Giants are 2-2 against the JetHawks this year. San Jose opened the season by splitting a four-game series at Lancaster.

Winning Ways The Giants enter tonight's contest having won nine out of their last ten games. Beginning on July 7, San Jose won seven in a row earning back-to-back series sweeps of Bakersfield (four games) and Modesto (three games). Stockton then snapped the Giants' seven-game winning streak with a 9-1 triumph last Wednesday to open San Jose's current homestand. However, the Giants bounced back earning victories of 7-2 on Thursday and 3-0 last night to take the series from the Ports. San Jose is 13-8 in the second half - their high-water mark above .500 this half.

Stellar Pitching Over the last ten games (9-1 record), the Giants own a sparkling 1.47 team ERA (16 ER/98.0 IP). San Jose allowed only 10 runs during their entire seven-game winning streak from July 7-13 (0.89 ERA). Giants starting pitchers possess a 1.26 ERA (8 ER/57.1 IP) in the last ten games. Last night was San Jose's third shutout in the last eight games. It was their ninth shutout overall this season - tied with Visalia for the league lead. The Giants rank third in the California League in ERA (3.73) and second in strikeouts (846).

Ragira hit .297 with 15 home runs in the second half last season for the San Jose Giants after batting just .224 (5 HR) in the first half.

Versus The South This series marks San Jose's first games against the South Division since a four-game set versus Inland Empire to close out the first half (June 18-21).
