San Diego Sockers News Release
Big Comeback at Home
After a frustrating first half on Sunday against Tacoma, the Sockers came out firing in the second half, erasing a 4-1 deficit with five goals in seven minutes of the third quarter. Tied 6-6 in the closing minutes, Slavisa Ubiparipovic and Brian Farber scored late goals to pull out an 8-6 victory over the Stars.
No Tenemos Pollo
Midfielder Hiram "Pollo" Ruiz suffered a leg strain during warmups on Sunday and was unavailable for selection against the Stars. He is expected to miss the Sonora match as well. On the season, "Pollo" has two goals, an assist and three blocked shots in six appearances.
Farber Scoring Streak
Veteran midfielder Brian Farber is off to a strong start in his fifteenth pro season of arena soccer, netting a goal in each of his first five matches. Farber kept his goal scoring streak alive with a header into an empty net against six attackers in the final minute against Tacoma. On the season, Farber has five goals, an assist and three blocked shots in five games played.
Captain on Ice
Hampered by foot and leg injuries, Kraig Chiles has been held scoreless in his last three appearances, tying the longest scoring drought of his career. Chiles was held without a point in three matches between March 14 and March 19 of 2017, rebounding to score five goals and three assists in his next two matches.
Hats Off To Slav
Slavisa Ubiparipovic scored his first hat trick as a member of the San Diego Sockers in the December 22 8-6 win over the Tacoma Stars, including the game-winning goal in the fourth quarter. On the season, Ubiparipovic leads the Sockers in scoring with six goals and ten points in six matches played.

The Sockers defender was named to the MASL Team of the Week after contributing four points (2 goals, 2 assists) to San Diego's two weekend victories. Ortega is tied for third on the team in scoring with seven points (4G, 3A).
