San Diego Sockers Match Notes vs Dallas

San Diego Sockers News Release
An old-school rivalry will be renewed this Friday, 7:35 p.m. when the Dallas Sidekicks venture to San Diego to meet the Sockers on "Best of San Diego" Night at Pechanga Arena San Diego. The original schedule had Turlock visiting San Diego, but the teams were switched after a scheduling conflict.
San Diego won the only meeting of the season 9-3 on December 26 in Texas. The Sockers/Sidekick rivalry dates back to the mid-80s in the Major Indoor Soccer League. The teams battled in the 1991-92 MISL Championship Series, which was won by the Sockers.
Dallas (8-10) enters the contest in third place in the Southwest Division, challenging Rio Grande Valley (11-5) for the final postseason berth in the division. The Sidekicks can look at their -29 goal differential (GF 99 - GA 128) as a cause for their current standing. Offensively, Dallas is led by VcMore Eligwe (23-6=29) and former Socker Jamie Lovegrove (21-4=25). Supporting the forwards is midfielder Ricardinho Cavalcante (3-18=21). Goalkeeper Juan Gamboa (6-7, 6.75) backstops the Sidekicks defense.
San Diego is seeking their 15th straight win and maintaining the #1 seed in the MASL. The defense, which allowed a season-high six goals, looks to rebound after a sub-par performance on Sunday vs. Ontario. Scoring leader Brandon Escoto's (22-18@) 8-game goal streak was snapped on Sunday.
