
San Diego Sockers Head to KC for Two-Game Stand

The San Diego Sockers take the show on the road for a doubleheader against the Kansas City Comets. The last time that these two teams met, the Sockers walked away with a 6-13 loss, the first of the season to the Comets.
Tonight's game is the first of a six-game road swing for the Sockers. The team will play the Comets tomorrow and finish up with trips to Milwaukee, Baltimore, Cleveland and Dallas.
The Sockers keep adding to the injury list. Anthony Farace did not make the trip due to an injury that he sustained in a previous game. Shandley Phillips moves to the IR list, joining David Beltran and Shawn Beyer.
Last Time: San Diego 15, Dallas 12- Jan. 12, 2003 The Sockers beat the Dallas Sidekicks for the fourth time this season, the third in San Diego, with a 15-12 nail-biter on January 12.
- Robbie Aristodemo led the team with two goals, including the game-winning goal.
- Chile Farias added to his point total with an assist.
- Nick Vorberg was in the goal for the Sockers and totaled 9 saves on 15 shots.
Farias Named MISL Offensive Player Of The Month The Major Indoor Soccer League announced today that Forward Carlos "Chile" Farias was recently named the MISL Offensive Player of the Month for his play in the month of November.
Farias posted three 3-point goals, seven 2-point tallies, seven assists and 30 points in six November outings. The native of Santiago, Chile also recorded one power play and one game-winning goal during November play.
The 26-year old forward enjoyed his most productive outing of the month on November 2 vs. Kansas City. In that contest, Farias posted three 2-point goals, a pair of assists and eight points in leading the Sockers to a 22-21 victory over the Comets. Farias recorded at least one point in all six of the November games in which he played and posted at least six points in four of his November outings.
Farias currently leads the MISL in scoring with 63 points and paces the League in both total goals with 18 and 3-point tallies with five. The 1996 Continental Indoor Soccer League Rookie of the Year also leads the MISL in sixth-attacker goals with four while sharing the League lead in assists with 13. Farias ranks second in 2-point goals with 15.
Several Sockers Top MISL Leaderboard
Kansas City's Dino Delevski jumped into first place in the Spalding Scoring race with 74 points after a high-point affair last weekend. Chile Farias moves to second with 68 points and holds a 10-point advantage over Harrisburg's David Bascome (53 points). Farias is also third in the MISL with 16 assists while he is tied for the league lead in short-handed goals (one) with three other players.
Fellow teammate, defender Gaston Pernia has blocked 46 opponent shots in 20 games this season, putting him in first place in the MISL. Baltimore's Sean Bowers ranks second with 38. Pernia led the Sockers and the World Indoor Soccer League in blocks last season with 53 in 23 games.
Goalkeeper Nick Vorberg holds second place on the MISL's leading goalkeeper board with an 8.73 points-against average. Milwaukee's Victor Nogueira leads the list with a 7.77 points-against average.
East Meets West
The Sockers will be glad to return to California and the Western Conference. The team is 2-8 against Eastern Conference teams this season. The only team that the Sockers have beat in the Eastern Conference is the Baltimore Blast.
