San Diego Sockers Explode Against The Blast

The San Diego Sockers scored early and scored often to beat the Baltimore Blast, 20-11, at the Baltimore Arena tonight. The win brings the Sockers (6-6) back to .500 while dropping the Blast to a 3-8 record.

Robbie Aristodemo started things off for the Sockers with a goal at 2:17 in the first period off an assist from Shawn Beyer. The Blast answered with a goal at 8:25 in the first, but Chile Farias silenced the team with a goal, less than 30 second later at 8:53. Aristodemo closed out the first period with an unassisted three-pointer at 12:06.

Aaron Susi scored the only goal for the Sockers in the second period at 0:32 off an assist by Mariano Bollella. The Sockers led the Blast 9-4 at halftime.

Tony Velazquez scored an unassisted goal at 5:55 in the third followed by Matthew Stewart with an unassisted goal of his own, at 8:49. Alejandro Cardenas scored a goal at 10:19 off an assist by Farias, to finish the third with the Sockers leading, 15-7.

Baltimore attempted a comeback when Lee Tschantret and Guiliano Celenza scored in the fourth period, but the Sockers seemed unstoppable. Bollella scored off an assist by Matt Johnson at 8:31 in the fourth period and Farias finished the game with a three-pointer at 12:34.

Dezso Horvath earned the win in goal, facing 25 shots with 22 saves. Scott Hileman took the loss for the Blast with 11 saves on 19 shots.

Bollella registered two assists, while Beyer, Farias and Johnson each earned one assist. Kevin Sakuda, Stewart, Johnson, Susi and Aristodemo each earned two blocks.

The Sockers will continue the long road trip with a 4 p.m. matchup against the Philadelphia KiXX on Saturday, Nov. 30. The Sockers faced the KiXX last week, losing 10-5.
