San Antonio Spurs Assign Aron Baynes to NBA D-League Affiliate Austin Toros

NEW YORK, Feb. 1, 2013 - The San Antonio Spurs today assigned Aron Baynes to the Austin Toros, San Antonio's NBA Development League affiliate. The assignment is the record 121st of the 2012-13 NBA and NBA D-League seasons, while Baynes becomes the record 52nd NBA player to be assigned to the NBA D-League this season.

Baynes (6-10, 260, Washington State) has played in two games for the Spurs, averaging 3.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 9.5 minutes. He was signed by the team on Jan. 23.

During his four-year career at Washington State, Baynes averaged 8.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 22.0 minutes in 122 NCAA games for the Cougars. A New Zealand native, Baynes represented Australia at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, where he averaged 7.5 points and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 66 percent from the floor.

Baynes is expected to join the Toros today and be available when the team plays the Bakersfield Jam in California tonight at 10 p.m. ET.
