San Antonio FC News Release
SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio FC (10-1-3) beat OKC Energy FC (1-6-6) 2-0 at Toyota Field on Saturday. A brace from forward Jordan Perruzza earned the Alamo City club three points at home to finish the regular season unbeaten when playing at Toyota Field.
"OKC needed points to remain in the playoff picture, so it was difficult because tonight was like a playoff match," said SAFC Head Coach Alen Marcina. "They threw everything at us, and they made it very difficult. We could have had more than just two goals because we created some big chances, but that's apart of the game. I'm proud of the guys, I'm proud that we remained undefeated in the regular season at home and I'm also proud one of our young players made his debut tonight."
Perruzza opened the scoring just before the halftime whistle after receiving the ball from defender Connor Maloney. The Canada native dribbled his way into space and buried a shot far-post to score his first goal for the club since joining on loan on Sept. 8.
The striker persisted in the attack throughout the following minutes while threatening the visitors' defense with a few chances. Perruzza then found his second of the night in the 52nd minute after midfielder Jose Gallegos played a delfected ball across the mouth of the goal, which the 19-year-old fired with power to bury it past goalkeeper CJ Cochran. The two goals earned Perruzza SWBC Man of the Match honors after he also tallied seven shots - second most in SAFC single-game history.
The night marked a special one for the club yet again after academy player Joshua Ramsey made his professional debut with the Alamo City club. Ramsey joined the academy from Solar Soccer Club before working his way into the first team. Ramsey's marks the third youth product debut foe the club this season and sixth overall.
SAFC will close out the USL Championship regular season with two road matches as they travel to face FC Tulsa on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. and Austin Bold FC on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m.
