San Antonio FC News Release
SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio FC has added goalkeeper Jude Bosshardt, defenders Roman Holt and Kibukila "Willow" Mbula, forward Kai Louviere and midfielder Henrik Sakshaug to the roster pending league and federation approval, the team announced today. The players' registration with SAFC as USL Academy Players allows them to play in competitive matches without potentially jeopardizing future college eligibility.
"As a staff, we are proud of Roman, Kai, Henrik, Willow and Jude for their contribution to the Team and Club Identity," said First Team Head Coach Alen Marcina. "Their potential, daily commitment on and off the field, and performances have earned each academy agreement contract. We are excited to see how each continues to adapt and develop at the professional level."
All five players are a part of the SAFC Pro Academy, with Bosshardt, Holt, Mbula and Sakshaug being a part of the academy since its inception in 2016. Louviere has also spent five years with the academy, joining in 2017. Over the last year, all five players represented San Antonio FC at the USL Academy League Playoffs and MLS NEXT Playoffs/Showcase.
"San Antonio FC Pro Academy proudly congratulate Roman, Kai, Henrik, Jude and Kibikula for earning their Academy Agreement contracts," said SAFC Pro Academy Director Juan Lamadrid. "They all have been committed to the youth process since day one. Now in the professional environment, the process starts again where adaptation, commitment and development takes the relentless and resilience spirit this young men have shown."
The players suited up for each of SAFC's four friendlies this preseason, joining other SAFC Pro Academy players as well as First Team players on the pitch. SAFC's Pro Academy includes six age-group teams, and competes in the USL Academy League as well as MLS Next, with the goal of identifying and developing the best players in the San Antonio area.
All five players are available for selection in Saturday's season opener against Detroit City FC, which kicks off from Toyota Field at 7:30 p.m. CT. Tickets for the match are available at SanAntonioFC.com.
