Same homestand, different order

May 27, 2005 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Yuma Scorpions News Release

(Yuma, AZ) – The Golden Baseball League has announced that to help streamline schedules, the order of opposing teams in the Scorpions' first homestand will change. Instead of hosting the Long Beach Armada June 2nd through the 4th, and the Fullerton Flyers June 6th through the 8th, the two visiting teams will switch places, and the Flyers will be the Scorpions' weekend opponents, with the Armada coming in for their three-game set at Desert Sun Stadium beginning June 6th. No game times will change, nor will any promotions be shifted ("Buffett Man" will still perform June 2nd, 1st Bank Yuma Reading Program Night will remain on June 3rd, Yuma Title Scorpions' T-Shirt Night will stay on June 4th, and Day Care Day will still happen at 12:05PM on June 8th).

The two Southern California teams will also swap places during the homestand of the Surprise Fightin' Falcons as well. Long Beach will now face Surprise June 2nd through the 4th, and Fullerton will make their way to Surprise Stadium beginning June 6th for a three-game series.

In other news, the team arrived at its team hotel in Mesa just before noon today in preparation of the official kickoff of their inaugural season, which begins TONIGHT against the Mesa Miners at 6:35PM. The game will be broadcast live on the flagship station of the Scorpions, KBLU 560AM, starting at 6PM, and will also be available on the internet on the Scorpions' website. The Scorpions will kick off their home season with the Scorpions' Opening Day Fan Fest on Monday, May 30th, when the Scorpions host the Surprise Fightin' Falcons at a special time of 5:05PM. The gates at Desert Sun Stadium will open at 3, and fans that come early to the Scorpions' Opening Day Fan Fest will be treated to: 1) the ‘Guns N' Hoses' charity softball game pitting Yuma Area Law Enforcement against Yuma Area Fire & Emergency Personnel; 2) live music from the band ‘Mogollon'; 3) a flyover performance by the Black Sheep Squadron. The first 1000 fans through the gates that day will also receive a special Scorpions' Commemorative Ticket of Opening Day, and a free magnet schedule courtesy of Wild West Motorsports. Fans can also purchase the Opening Day Fan Fest Special-which includes a reserved seat ticket, plus a hot dog and a 16-ounce soda-all for only $7-between now and 5:05PM May 30th! There are a limited number of Opening Day Fan Fest Special tickets available, and are subject to sellout. Single-game tickets for all 50 Scorpions' 2005 home games are also on sale at the Scorpions' Offices and at www.yumascorpions.com. Seats are still available for all 50 Scorpions' home games in all three price ranges: $10 box seats, $7 reserved seats, and $5 general admission seats. There are also senior, military, and kids' prices for general admission tickets only. Office hours are from 8:30AM to 5:30PM Monday through Friday. Season tickets-as well as 5, 10, and 20-game mini-plans-remain on sale. Those who are purchasing or have already bought season tickets or mini-plans can still purchase VIP parking passes for the entire season at just $90 per vehicle. VIP parking passes allow the holder to park in specially designated areas close to the front gate at Desert Sun Stadium.
