Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs re-signed two more members of their 2009 championship team on Tuesday, relief pitcher Adam Daniels and outfielder Gavin Dickey.

Daniels overcame a slow start in 2009 to become a key late-inning contributor, posting a 7-4 record and a 2.98 ERA. He appeared in 46 games, struck out 54 batters in 54.1 innings pitched, and at one point made 13 straight scoreless appearances. Adam also appeared in seven of Lincoln's ten postseason games, and recorded a critical strikeout with the bases loaded and two out in the sixth inning of the deciding game in the championship series.

"Adam is a real competitor out there," said Saltdogs manager Marty Scott. "He wants the ball, he wants to be out there in the big situation, and he's not afraid of failure. You saw it in the championship series. He got knocked around a bit in game four, but he went right back out there in game five and got some key outs for us."

Dickey came to the Saltdogs in July, and after getting off to a slow start of his own, caught fire in the season's final month. He hit safely in 22 of the last 25 regular-season games, compiling a .336 batting average and driving in 17 runs. Gavin also hit two home runs and drove in four runs in postseason play.

"When Gavin got here, he hadn't played a baseball game in about a month, and it showed at first," said Scott. "Once he shook off the rust, though, he really showed us what he can do. He has a pretty good approach at the plate, and good speed in the outfield and on the basepaths."

Season Ten of Saltdogs Baseball begins on May 13 in Sioux Falls, with the home opener scheduled for May 25 against Wichita. For more team and ticket information, go to www.saltdogs.com .
