
Salmon Kings Sign Jason Deleurme

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that they have signed right winger Jason Deleurme (DEL-lore-um) for the 2009-10 season.
The Kelowna, BC native joins the Salmon Kings this fall for his 13th season of professional hockey. For the past two seasons Deleurme has played for the Dresden Ice Lions of Germany's second tier Bundesliga league. In 2008-09, Deleurme played 28 games for the Ice Lions scoring 24 points (10g-14a) while adding 94 minutes in penalties. In the 2007-08 season with Dresden he posted his best professional offensive season scoring 73 points (20g-53a) in just 46 games.

The 32-year-old Deleurme began his junior career with five seasons as a member of the WHL's Tacoma-Kelowna Rockets. His most productive season was his final year as a Rocket in 1997-98 where he amassed 103 points (51g-52a) in just 72 games played while adding 47 minutes in penalties. For his WHL career, Deleurme played in 341 games scoring 313 points (141g-172a) and serving 432 minutes in penalties. In each of his five years as a Rocket Deleurme also participated in the WHL Playoffs. In 29 career playoff games with the Rockets he scored nine goals and added 10 assists for 19 points while accruing 35 penalty minutes.
The right winger's professional career began with the 1998-99 season as a member of the Hampton Road Admirals. In 26 games in Virginia he scored 15 points (9g-6a) and notched 74 minutes in penalties.
The 5-8, 185 lb. Deleurme then returned to school playing parts of two seasons (1998-99 and 1999-00) with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds. In 39 career games as a Thunderbird he scored 52 points (25g-27a) and added 153 minutes in penalties. These totals included an impressive 1998-99 campaign at UBC where he scored 29 points (15g-14a) in just 18 games while accruing 71 penalty minutes.
In 1999-00, Deleurme also played for the Peoria Rivermen, then of the ECHL. In 47 games with Peoria he tallied 14 goals and 15 assists for 29 points and added 78 minutes in penalties. During the 2000 Kelly Cup Playoffs, Deleurme scored 20 points (8g-12a) in 18 games as he helped the Rivermen to their lone Kelly Cup Championship.
Deleurme split the 2000-01 season between the Schwenningen Wild Wings of Germany's second-tier Bundesliga and the Idaho Steelheads of the WCHL. In 53 games as a Wild Wing that season he scored five goals and added five assists for 10 points with 163 penalty minutes. The forward played in 11 games for the future ECHL team scoring 11 points (6g-5a) and tallied 16 minutes in penalties. In 12 playoff games that season he notched four goals and six assists for 10 points while serving 28 penalty minutes.
The former Kelly Cup Champion would spend the next seven full seasons in Europe which began with the 2001-02 campaign in Schwenningen where he posted 17 points (8g-9a) in 59 games played while serving 97 minutes in penalties.
Deleurme remained in the Bundesliga for the next two seasons playing for Bad Nauheim EC. In 103 total games with his second German team he scored 99 points (45g-54a) with 192 minutes in penalties. Deleurme also participated in 14 playoff games with Bad Nauheim scoring seven goals and nine assists for 13 points with 47 penalty minutes.
The right winger spent the 2004-05 in Sweden split between Skovde IK of the Swedish second-tier league and Malmo IF of the Swedish Elite League. During his time in Skovde, Deleurme dressed for 22 games and scored 17 points (5g-12a) while adding 38 minutes in penalties. After moving to Malmo, the forward scored two goals and one assist for three points in 18 games while tallying 18 penalty minutes.
Deleurme returned to Germany's second-tier Bundesliga in 2005-06 playing for the Essen Mosquitoes. In 51 games played he notched 16 goals and assisted on 33 others for 49 points.
In 2006-07, Deleurme returned to Schwenningen, playing 48 games for the Wild Wings scoring 47 points (17g-30a)
For his professional career, Deleurme has played in 512 games scoring 157 goals and 237 assists for 394 points and 770 minutes in penalties. The forward is not considered a veteran by ECHL standards as only 214 of his games qualify towards that total.
In 44 professional playoff games Deleurme has 19 goals and 27 assists for 46 points and accumulated 85 minutes in penalties.
