Published on September 17, 2009 under ECHL (ECHL) News Release
The Florida Everblades, the Kalamazoo Wings, the Stockton Thunder and the
Toledo Walleye of the ECHL have all advanced to the Sweet 16 in the
The Hockey News' Jersey Rankings and Tournament.
The Premier 'AA' Hockey League is the only minor professional league
remaining from the field of 135 teams in 15 leagues and only the National
Hockey League advanced more teams to the final 16.
Florida and Stockton are facing off against each other with the winner
advancing to meet either the Chicago Blackhawks or the Ottawa 67's.
Kalamazoo is matched up against the London Knights with the victor meeting either Rimouski or North Dakota in the next round while Toledo is battling the Montreal Canadiens of the NHL for the right to face either the Philadelphia Flyers or the Calgary Flames in the Elite Eight.
Fans can vote until 9 a.m. on Monday to determine which teams advance to
the Elite Eight in the single-elimination bracket.
Each week voting will determine who moves on until an ultimate champion has
been determined.
