Salmon Kings Ford Named Goaltender Of The Week

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that goaltender Todd Ford has been named the RbK Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Dec. 15-21.

Ford backstopped the Salmon Kings to 3-0-0 record over the last week versus the Alaska Aces. On Wednesday evening he stopped 29 Aces' shots en route to the 4-2 victory. Saturday night saw the 24-year-old hold Alaska at bay stopping all 26 shots he faced. In the finale of the three-game set on Saturday he made 26 saves as the Salmon Kings won the finale 5-3.

Over the three-game set the Calgary, AB native earned a goals-against-average of 1.67 to go along with a save percentage .942. Over his last five starts Ford has a record of 5-0-0 with two shutouts, a goals-against-average of 1.40 and a save percentage of .952.

The 6-4 and 195lb Ford was selected in the third round (74th overall) by Toronto in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Ford began his career in the ECHL in 2004-05 with the Pensacola Ice Pirates. He has spent the majority of his career in the ECHL, but has seen time in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies.

Ford played his junior hockey in the WHL. He played for three teams (Swift Current, Prince George and Vancouver) in his four seasons of junior.

The Salmon Kings are off for the Christmas break, but return to action on Saturday night in Stockton, CA. The Salmon kings then return to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on January 2nd at 7:05 p.m. when the Bakersfield Condors come to town. Tickets are available call 250-220-7777.
