Salmon Kings Assistant Coach Resigns
September 5, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that assistant coach Quinten Van Horlick has resigned for personal reasons.
Van Horlick joined the Salmon Kings on September 17, 2007. Van Horlick, 33, began his professional coaching career with Victoria behind the bench with General Manager and Head Coach Mark Morrison.
"Quinten leaving us at this time is unfortunate for the team," General Manager and Head Coach Mark Morrison said, "but his hard work over the past year has left us in a good position."
Prior to joining the Salmon Kings the Kamloops, BC native had an 11-year professional career (1995-96 through 2005-2006) that saw him participate in the ECHL, the Central Hockey League (CHL) and the United Hockey League (UHL).
Upon his retirement from the game, Van Horlick became the On-Ice Director for the J Robinson Intensive Hockey Camp program in Minneapolis, MN; Bowling Green, OH and Morrisville, New York. He also served as the Western Scout for International Scouting Services during that time.
He was awarded the Humanitarian Award while playing with the Corpus Christi Icerays in 2000-2001, and was also the recipient of the Fan Favourite Award in 2004-2005 when he was a member of the Missouri River Otters. Van Horlick began his junior career with the Quesnel Millionaires of the BCHL where he played for four seasons before turning professional.
