Dayton Bombers News Release

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers Head Coach Bill McDonald announced today that the team has signed Mike Looby, a defenseman, to a contract for the 2008-09 season. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This will be Looby's first season in the ECHL, following three years in the Central Hockey League. Most recently Looby skated for the Tulsa Oilers, picking up a career-high 22 points (2g,20a) in 52 games. He has also played for Rio Grande Valley, Arizona and Laredo. Looby picked up a goal and a pair of assists for the Bucks on their way to the 2006 President's Cup championship.

"This will be a new experience for me (in the ECHL), but I used my time in the CHL to develop more as a player," Looby said. "My goal is to be a solid defensive player and to contribute offensively when I can."

The six-foot, 197-pound native of Brampton, Ontario, played five seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with Brampton, Sault Ste. Marie, Plymouth and Kingston. He averaged more than 13 points per season in the OHL, and advanced to the playoffs on three occasions.

"He's going to add depth to our defense," said McDonald, who coached against Looby in the CHL. "Mike's young, got good size and great character. He's an ideal teammate to have."
