St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN (May 3, 2010) - That didn't take long. Before the St. Paul Saints even played an exhibition game outfielder Drew Anderson had his contract purchased by the Milwaukee Brewers organization and he will be assigned to Triple-A Nashville. Anderson becomes the 97th player in franchise history to have his contract purchased.

The 28-year-old Anderson, currently residing in St. Cloud, spent most of last season in the Brewers organization at Double-A Huntsville where he hit .301 with a career high 10 homers and drove in 57. In 108 games he clubbed 25 doubles, had two triples and scored 56 runs. He stole nine bases in 14 attempts, had a .452 slugging percentage and a .376 on base percentage. He spent five games at Triple-A Nashville and collected two hits in 16 at bats.

Anderson was drafted in the 24th round of the 2003 June Amateur Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers where he spent most of his seven year professional career (he spent 2008 with Cincinnati's Triple-A club in Louisville) including reaching the Major Leagues in 2006. Anderson recorded his only Major League hit on September 21, a single off of Matt Morris.

In school at Kearney high in Nebraska, Anderson was an incredible athlete as one of the states top multi-sport performers. He earned first-team All-Nebraska honors for football, track and baseball. He won the all-class gold medal in both the 110 and 330 meter hurdles.

The Saints roster stands at 24 players, 11 pitchers and 13 position players. The Saints can carry up to 27 players during spring training and must be down to 23 by the beginning of the season. The roster then must be down to its maximum of 22 players 14 days after the season begins.

The Saints regular season begins on May 13 with a six game homestand against the Wichita Wingnuts and defending champion Lincoln Saltdogs. For more information and to purchase tickets contact the box office at 651-644-6659 or visit saintsbaseball.com.
