St. Paul Saints News Release
ST. PAUL, MN (April 30, 2014) - Leave it to the St. Paul Saints to make a three-way even kinkier, but that's exactly what they have done. The most talked about exhibition game in franchise history, the Three-Way At Midway, the XXXhibition will be sponsored by KINKY Cocktails and there is now a third team in the mix, the Minneapolis Cobras.
KINKY Cocktails is a refreshing pink colored beverage with flavors of Mango, Passion Fruit and Blood Orange. Finishes with a light clean crisp taste! Easy to drink more than one on a hot summer day at the ball park! KINKY Cocktails is the product of the St. Paul company Johnson Bros. This is not the company's first foray with the Saints. Back in 1994 they introduced Sumo Wrestling to Midway Stadium when they brought their two sumo seats that they were using in bars and created a phenomenon at the ballpark. Johnson Bros. has made the leap from fat suits to three-ways with the Saints.
The Saints and RedHawks have also found a third suitor for their XXXhibition game. After sifting through numerous teams interested in getting down and dirty one stood out above all the rest, the Minneapolis Cobras a Class A Baseball Team in Minnesota. They sent in not one, but two racy photos, and stated "we aren't afraid to try new things." In addition, the roster they submitted stated that one of the player's positions was "bald." The Saints aren't quite sure what that means, but they are intrigued to find out. The Cobras are made up of players from many of the local colleges and a few that have played Independent Baseball, including former Saint and RedHawks Jake Krause.
The Saints, RedHawks and Cobras will battle it out for 12 innings while at the same time raising money for amateur and youth baseball in Minnesota. Portions of that games ticket sales along with auctions of Saints experiences, that are best enjoyed in a group, will be donated.
The rules of the game will be similar to that of a game against two teams: try and score as many times as possible. Whether it's going deep or spanking a base hit to drive someone in, the winner will be decided after each team has batted an equal number of times.
The game will be broadcast live on 105FM The Ticket with Saints broadcaster Sean Aronson and broadcast assistants Sam Hovan and J.W. Cox.
A three-way isn't unprecedented in the world of baseball. One took place on June 26, 1944 in a contest between the three New York teams, the Dodgers, Giants and Yankees. The game known as the "Tri-Cornered Baseball Game" presented by War Bond Sports Committee and was carried out in support of the Allied Forces in World War II. A number of New York sportswriters dreamt up the idea and netted more than $56,000,000 in bond purchases (although $50,000,000 came from the pockets of New York City and Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia). The Dodgers scored five runs, the Yankees one run and the Giants were blanked in the nine inning affair.
The exhibition game begins at 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m. and the parking lot opening at 4:00 p.m. Saints tickets continue to be a tremendous value. Tickets are $6 for general admission, $9 for outfield reserved and $14 for infield reserved. Friday home games with Post-Game Fireworks (except July 3, August 28) are an additional $2 per ticket. Saints Special Event Home Games with Post-Game Fireworks Supershow (July 3, August 28) are an additional $3 per ticket. Tickets purchased on the day of the game are an additional $2 per ticket. Children under the age of 12 and seniors 65 and older receive $1 off the admission price. Children under 2 that don't require a seat are free.
Saints Box Office Hours on non-game days are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. On game days, the Box Office will open at 9 a.m. Sunday through Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday and will remain open until 15 minutes following each game.
