San Angelo Saints News Release

SAN ANGELO – The Southwest Division Champion San Angelo Saints announced today that they have added two amateur players, defenseman Steve Dix and right wing Justin McCutcheon, to their roster for the upcoming Central Hockey League's 2003-2004 Ray Miron President's Cup Playoffs. Each team is allowed to have an 18 man roster plus 2 amateur status players. An amateur status player is a player who has never played at the professional level. Both Dix and McCutcheon played for the Saginaw Sprit of the Ontario Hockey League this past season.

Dix, a native of North Bay, Ontario, led the Spirit in penalty minutes and currently holds the teams' single season penalty minute record with 174 penalty minutes. During the 2003-2004 regular season, Dix had 14 points in 60 games played. In 2002-2003 with Saginaw, he tallied 9 points and an impressive 169 penalty minutes in 52 games played.

McCutcheon is a native of Ithica, New York. In the regular season with the Sprit, he was 2nd on the team in points with 12 goals and 27 assists for 39 points in 53 games played. Spirit President and General Manager Costa Papista says McCutcheon is a determined and very competitive player. "He's gritty, and drives the net extremely hard."

The Saints host the Amarillo Gorillas in the first round of the playoffs this Friday and Saturday night at the San Angelo Coliseum. Tickets for both games are currently on sale and the Saints are offering a ticket special. If you purchase one ticket at full price you will receive the second ticket at half price, while availability lasts. To get your ticket, call the Saints Ticket Hotline at 325-658-6464.
