
Ice adds amateur defenseman for playoffs

INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice announced today that the team has added defenseman Frank Burgio (BUHR-zhee-oh) to its 2004 playoff roster. The Ice begins its best-of-five first round series with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs this Friday at 8:05 p.m. from the CenturyTel Center.
Burgio, 21, was the top-scoring defenseman for the Georgetown Raiders of the Ontario Junior A hockey league as he recorded 34 points (4G, 30A) and 141 penalty minutes in 43 games of work.
Before arriving at Georgetown, the 6-0, 190-pound defenseman played three years of major juniors in the Ontario Hockey League with four different teams. His three-year numbers included 20 points (5G, 15A) and 158 penalty minutes in 184 games.
