Saginaw Spirit Post Strong Third Period in Playoff Opener Against

The Saginaw Spirit took on the London Knights on Friday night, in the first game of their Western Conference Quarter Final, falling on the road 5 - 2.

The Western Conference rivals came out strong in the opening period. The Knights then scored first on a play by Dakota Mermis, his first of the playoffs, with the assists coming from Alex Broadhurst and Chris Tierney. Alex Broadhurst added to the Knights score, his first of the playoffs, assisted by Max Domi and Chris Tierney. The frame ended London 2 - Saginaw 0.

The second period opened up with a goal for the Knights, by Max Domi, on the power play, his first of the playoffs, with the assists coming from Chris Tierney and Olli Maatta. Then Josh Anderson scored on a penalty shot, his first of the playoffs. Max Domi then added another tally, his 2nd of the playoffs and of the night, which was assisted by Dakota Mermis. Andrey Alexeev answered for the Spirit, his first of the playoffs, assisted by Dylan Sadowy and Jason Shaw. The period ended London 5 - Saginaw 1.

The Spirit came out with a solid effort in the third, and Eric Locke was able to score the only goal of the period, his first of the playoffs, assisted by Nathan Glass. The game ended London 5 - Saginaw 2, with the shots on goal, London 38 - Saginaw 26.
