St. Cloud, MN - The St. Cloud Rox took down the Willmar Stingers for the second straight game on Sunday evening at the Rock Pile in a big way.
In a pitchers' duel, St. Cloud beat Willmar 1-0 in 11 innings on Pink in the Park Day at Joe Faber Field. With the win, the Rox completed the two-game series sweep over the Stingers and have now won five of their last six contests.
In the bottom of the 11th inning, Bobby Seymour (Wake Forest) won the game for St. Cloud, plating Connor Aube (Texas at Arlington) from third base on a sacrifice fly to left field.
The story of the game was the start from Kenny Saenz (BYU), who pitched seven stellar innings to kick things off for St. Cloud. Holding a no-hitter into the sixth inning, Saenz gave up just one hit, one walk and struck out 10 batters to grab a no-decision.
Sergio Esparza (Arkansas at Pine Bluff) followed Saenz's lead when he entered the game to throw two shutout innings, giving up no hits and striking out two. Jake Suddreth (BYU) tossed the final two innings to grab the win, giving up no runs, just hit while striking out three.
The Rox tallied three hits in the game, led by Seymour who went 1-for-4 with one RBI. Aube finished 1-for-5 with a double, while Ricardo Sanchez (Arkansas at Pine Bluff) recorded the other hit.
St. Cloud (7-5 second half, 23-25 overall) will have off on Monday before returning to action at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday against the Rochester Honkers at the Rock Pile, opening up a four-game stretch at home. The game will be Faith in Action Night. There will be a pre-game youth baseball and softball clinic presented by Fellowship of Christian Athletes, YMCA and Northland Capital Financial Services, LLC.
