SACRAMENTO, CA - Thursday, August 18 - The Sacramento Mountain Lions, of the United Football League, have signed former Hartford Colonials running back ANDRE DIXON.
"I'm very excited to become a Mountain Lion," Dixon said. "I'm looking forward to doing things in the community. And I will give 200% every time I step on the field."
Dixon, 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2010 UFL Draft by the Colonials. He created a buzz around the UFL in his very first game as a professional, rushing 21 times for 94 yards in a victory over the visiting Mountain Lions on September 18, 2010. He finished the season with 241 rushing yards on 76 carries, teaming up in the Hartford backfield with LORENZO BOOKER. Booker joined the Minnesota Vikings at the conclusion of the 2010 UFL season.
Dixon also starred at the University of Connecticut, finishing up his college career with an explosive senior season (1093 rushing yards, 14 rushing touchdowns; 112 receiving yards, one receiving touchdown).
The Mountain Lions will open their season at Hornet Stadium against the visiting Las Vegas Locos at 7:30 p.m. on September 17.
