2-06-08: Atlanta Dream selected guard Kristin Haynie in the 2008 WNBA Expansion Draft.

3-03-08: Re-signed forwards Rebekkah Brunson and Nicole Powell to four-year contracts.

3-31-08: Re-signed forward DeMya Walker.

4-09-08: Selected forward/center Laura Harper in the first round (10th overall) of the 2008 WNBA Draft.

Friday, May 2, 2008, 7:00 P.M. PDT at ARCO Arena

Sacramento out-rebounded their opponent 37-32.

The Monarchs gained an eight-point lead late in the fourth quarter to help close out the game.

Kara Lawson shot 6-12 from the field for 18 points and 5 assists.

Rebekkah Brunson recorded 11 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and a block.

Rookie Charel Allen finished with 8 points on 4-6 shooting, 3 rebounds and 2 steals.

Washington Mystics 90, Sacramento Monarchs 82

Monday, May 5, 2008, 4:00 P.M. PDT at University of Tampa (Tampa, Fla.)

Monarchs guard Kara Lawson paced all scorers with 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the floor, including sinking 2-of-6 three-point basket attempts.

Forward/center Adrian Williams-Strong notched 15 points on 5-of-9 made baskets from the floor and 5-of-7 made free throw attempts.

Rookie center Izabela Piekarska made 2-of-3 shots from three-point range en route to scoring 11 points to go along with her five rebounds.

Veteran La'Tangela Atkinson and newcomer Charel Allen led the team with seven rebounds apiece.

Atkinson also led the team in assists, with five, while rookie A'Quonesia Franklin dished out four.

Race for the Cure

On Saturday, May 10, Maloof Sports & Entertainment Team Members, will participate in the 12th Annual Komen Sacramento Race for the Cure. This will be the seventh year that the Maloof Sports & Entertainment family has participated in the event as part of their commitment to Breast Health Awareness. As in past years, thousands of race participants are expected to stop by the Monarchs Experience to take shots on the sport court, visit with Monty, watch the Hip Hop Crew, have their faces painted, and enjoy other fun activities.

Monarchs Reading Rally

As part of the WNBA Cares Week, the Sacramento Monarchs will visit Will C. Wood Middle School on Tuesday, May 13. The players and coaches will participate in an interactive reading activity and answer questions from students, followed by a book fair to close out the event. Every student will receive a comic book and other goodies. The Sacramento Breakers and Monty will also make an appearance.

2008 Special Events at Monarchs Games

During the 2008 season, the Monarchs will be hosting special events for fans to participate in during designated home games throughout the season. The special events at Monarchs games are as follows:

- Saturday, June 14 vs. Los Angeles Sparks: Dads and Daughters Night

- Saturday, July 12 vs. Phoenix Mercury: Women of Inspiration Night

- Friday, July 18 vs. Atlanta Dream: Breast Health Awareness Night

- Thursday, July 24 vs. Phoenix Mercury: Camp Day

- Tuesday, September 9 vs. Seattle Storm: The MONTYS - Monarchs Thank You Sacramento
