April 8, 2008 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)
Sacramento Monarchs News Release
Today, the Seattle Storm announced the signing of former Monarchs center Yolanda Griffith.
Sacramento Monarchs General Manager John Whisenant Statement:
"The entire Monarchs organization thanks Yolanda for her amazing run here and wishes her all the best in Seattle. We would have preferred to have Yolanda finish her career in Sacramento, but we respect that this was her decision. She was our Finals MVP in 2005 and one of the greatest players to ever wear a Monarchs uniform. She will certainly be missed."
Sacramento Monarchs Head Coach Jenny Boucek Statement:
"I wish nothing but the best for Yolanda. I will be forever grateful to Yolanda for her loyalty and commitment to us last season. I would have been honored to continue working with her, but I respect Yolanda fully and what she feels is the right thing. She will be greatly missed, both on and off the court."
