San Jose SaberCats News Release
SAN JOSE, CA - The SaberCats today announced the return of WR Rodney Wright following a three-team trade with the Philadelphia Soul and the Tulsa Talons. The SaberCats sent OL Patrick Afif and future considerations to the Soul, while the Talons received QB Justin Allgood in exchange. The team also announced they have activated OL Adam Juratovac off of the refuse to report list.
"Rodney was enjoying a great season with us, before he left the team for family reasons," said Owner/Head Coach Darren Arbet. "We're excited to reacquire him and hopefully he can contribute the rest of this season."
Wright was placed on reassignment on March 28 at his request due to family concerns and was claimed by Tulsa on March 29.
In his three games with the SaberCats in 2011, Wright led the AFL in receptions (38), receiving yards (399) and all-purpose yards (682). He played for San Jose for four seasons prior to this season and has totaled 331 receptions for 3,632 yards and 45 touchdowns in his career. One of the greatest returners in SaberCats history, Wright ranks third with 2,723 career return yards.
