San Jose SaberCats News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Oct. 28, 2005) - The two-time ArenaBowl champion San Jose SaberCats added three more players to their 2006 roster by signing free agent linemen TERRY WAGNER and GABE REININGER, and WR/LB BEN NELSON.

A four-time All-Big Sky Conference pick at center for Sacramento State, Wagner (6-3, 300) started a school record 44 games during his career and anchored an offensive line that helped Charles Roberts set the NCAA Division I-AA record for career rushing yards.

Signed by the NFL's New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2002, the two-time Most Valuable Lineman for the Hornets also spent time with the New Orleans Saints.

Reininger (6-3, 301) played defensive end for two seasons at Arizona State University (2003-04) after transferring from Moorpark (Calif.) College where he was a JC Grid Wire All-American and the Western States Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

During his two seasons at ASU, the Las Vegas native played in 23 games with 31 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and a quarterback sack.

Nelson (6-3, 188) joins the SaberCats following a stint with the Minnesota Vikings. Signed by the Vikings in 2003, Nelson was allocated to NFL Europe spending the 2004 season with Cologne. He returned to the Vikings and played in three games during the 2004 NFL campaign.

A NCAA Division II All-American at St. Cloud (Minn.) State University, Nelson holds the SCSU career record with 43 touchdown receptions and enjoyed a stretch of 34 straight games with a scoring reception. He was named All-American by Associated Press, AFCA Division II Coaches and Football Gazette following his senior season in 2002.

The new additions increase San Jose's roster to 35. Teams are allowed to bring 37 players to training camp, which opens in January, but must pare down to 24 for opening day.

The SaberCats open their 12th season in the Arena Football League on Saturday, January 28 when they host the expansion Utah Blaze.
