
Soul re-sign Crespina

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Soul re-signed WR/DB Keita Crespina today and added WR/LB Carlos Perez and FB/LB Chris Robinson. As per club policy, terms of their deals were not disclosed.
Crespina (5'8, 185, Temple) is an eight-year veteran of the AFL and is one of only three players (Sean Scott and Dwayne Missouri) who began the inaugural season with the Soul in 2004. In 2005, he played in 12 games and caught 11 passes for 141 yards with two touchdowns. On defense, Crespina tallied 25.5 tackles, one interception and two pass break ups. The former Owl was a member of the ArenaBowl Champion Tampa Bay Storm in 2003.
"No one loves this organization more than Keita and we are really excited about having him back next year," head coach Brett Munsey said. "He brings veteran leadership onto the field and in the locker room for us."
Perez (6'0", 210, Florida) enters his rookie campaign in the AFL with the Soul after spending time with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was a member of the Eagles practice squad in 2004. Last season, Perez was allocated to NFL Europe and was selected in the 13th round by the Hamburg Sun Devils. The former Gator finished his college career with 106 receptions for 1,313 yards with 11 touchdowns in 43 games (23 starts).
"Carlos has been in great systems in the past and we are excited to have him," Coach Munsey said. "He should be a great addition to our receiving core."
Robinson (6'3", 260, New Hampshire) joins the Soul after spending the last two seasons in af2 with the Rio Grande Dorados and the Peoria Pirates. With the Dorados last season, he carried the ball 57 times for 248 yards with 11 touchdowns and caught six passes for 58 yards. On defense, he tallied 37.5 tackles, four sacks, one interception, one safety and one fumble recovery.
"Robinson is a big guy who is going to compete in training camp for us," Coach Munsey said. "He is very athletic for his size and we look forward to seeing what he brings to the table."
The Soul kickoff their third season in the AFL on January 29, 2006 when the
host the Tampa Bay Story at the Wachovia Center. Kickoff is set for 3pm.
