Ryobi and the OHL to Recognize Hardest Working Players

November 3, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) News Release

Toronto, Canada - The Ontario Hockey League is pleased to announce that Ryobi is back as sponsor of the Hardest Working Player program for a second season.

This season, Ryobi has taken the Hardest Working Player program to a whole new level. Ryobi has turned this program into a monthly award that has players vying for the Ryobi Hardest Working Player title. This season, the Hardest Working Player program will award two players per month - a defenceman and forward from each team - the distinction of Hardest Working Player of the Month during an on-ice presentation.

Ryobi looks to recognize players who best demonstrate dependability, quality of play and overall commitment to their team. The partnership between Ryobi and the OHL aligns their shared commitment to recognizing players who work hard both on and off the ice.

"Ryobi is thrilled to partner with the Ontario Hockey League to recognized star players who demonstrate the utmost level of dependability and outstanding skill," said Mitch Dennehy, VP of Sales & Marketing with Ryobi Canada. "We stand behind our community and look to partner with first-class organizations. Sports play an integral role in shaping the lives of our younger generations and we're proud to recognize the outstanding efforts of these players."

"The OHL is pleased to have Ryobi return as a league partner and title sponsor of the Ryobi Hardest Working Player of the Month Award," commented OHL Commissioner David Branch. "In order to play in the OHL, players must possess a strong work ethic making it fitting to have an award that recognizes the efforts of our hardworking student athletes."

Throughout the season two players per month will be awarded the title of Ryobi Hardest Working Player of the Month; with the culmination of the program coming when fans vote for the OHL's Hardest Working Player for the 2014-2015 season. This program will be activated across 17 teams in the Ontario Hockey League. At the end of the season the OHL player chosen as the 2014-2015 OHL's Hardest Working Player will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship and a Ryobi six piece combination kit courtesy of Ryobi Power Tools.
