LEOMINSTER, Mass (June 4, 2014). Ryder Miconi (William and Mary College) gives the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs their first win of the season with a double to deep centerfield in the bottom of the ninth that scored Thomas Buonopane (University of Rhode Island). Bounopane was a defensive replacement in the eighth and in the ninth reached on a single down the first base line.

In an offensive showdown, both teams combined for four home runs. The Dirt Dawgs got off to a hot start in the first inning with a three run home run from Austin Botts (Lock Haven University). In the second they added a grand slam from Tony Rallo (Judson University). In the third Ashburnham native Evan Brown (Manhattan College) added a solo home run.

The Suns made some noise of their own in the third as Zack Tower (UMass Lowell) hit a grand slam in an inning where they scored six runs. The Suns tied the game by scoring two runs in the top of the ninth off a wild pitch and a single by Paul Cotler (University of Pennsylvania).

Head coach Kevin Barnaby commented about the game saying "we gave Leominster a good showing and we could really swing it today."

Looking to tomorrow's game versus the Seacoast Mavericks, Coach Barnaby hopes to "limit the walks and the errors" but overall "is very pleased with the way [the Dirt Dawgs] played today."

The Dirt Dawgs will take on the Seacoast Mavericks at Doyle Field on June 5 at 6:35 PM. Akassh Argarwal is the expected starter for the Dirt Dawgs.
